Grande Sertão: Veredas #2. A random spanning tree grows over a coarse grid, and walking around it with the tree always on the same hand gives one path that passes through every cell of a finer grid and never crosses itself. The whole labyrinth stays faint, like a track in dust; only a stretch of it is carved, black with a white gouge down the middle, cut at the head while the tail lets go. Head and tail go round at the same speed, so the picture never shows where the crossing began or where it ends, only the middle of it.
