Metronomes
Seventy metronomes on one loose board, each at its own tempo, nudging each other through the wood (the Kuramoto model). Each is a thread of ink written by a pen sweeping down the page; every visit sets up a new board. As the coupling tightens the tangle combs itself into one shared pulse, then loosens and drifts apart again.
