Reflexões #1, finitude. The Bak–Tang–Wiesenfeld sandpile: 52,000 grains fall one at a time on the centre of a grid and every cell that holds four topples onto its neighbours. Nobody draws the mandala; it is what thousands of small collapses leave behind, and no one can tell which grain will set off the avalanche. At the end of the loop the wind takes the pile and the table is empty again.
